Recently, an article published by PetFood Industry called for more transparency in pet food research. Apparently, while large companies claim to do research, they rarely share the details of the research. Mars Petcare®, for example, recently settled with the Federal Trade Commission for misrepresenting the health-related benefits of their Iams® brand of dog food. When asked to produce the research that led to their claim, they couldn’t do so.
JustFoodForDogs is a fun company that is also very serious about veterinary nutrition. From the day we opened our doors, our founder Shawn Buckley has embraced scientific research. Ironically, our small, young company is obsessed with learning more, and – most importantly – sharing it! We have already hit some major scientific milestones:
- Only whole food company to have conducted feeding trials. Amazingly, pet food companies are allowed to sell you food without ever having fed it to a dog. JustFoodForDogs is not that kind of company – our food was tested at Cal Poly Pomona University and proven healthy.
- Only whole food company to be included in research that was published in the Journal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition. Research conducted using our food at two major universities showed that 21 dogs became healthier from being fed our food instead of kibble. The health benefits were specific to their immune system. Click here to learn more.
- Only whole food company that has written a comprehensive Whitepaper and submitted it to the FDA as official comments. JustFoodForDogs asked the FDA for increased regulation in pet food production based on the findings of the Whitepaper.
Recently, we were invited to discuss these milestones in a podcast for Dog Hipsters. Dr. Oscar E. Chavez, BVetMed MRCVS MBA, our Chief Medical Officer was more than happy to participate. When everyone else is hiding his or her research – we can’t share ours enough!
Please listen to the informative podcast, and – more importantly – share it. Please help spread the word! Tell your friends and family about our food so that their pets can finally come off of harmful kibble and cans, and provide proven, healthy food for their pets.
